Brian O’Kane presides as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the O’Kane Group of Companies and concurrently holds the position of CEO at Klarke Investments. His leadership spans multiple facets of real estate development and property investment, managing an expansive portfolio that includes multi-family units, office buildings, commercial spaces, industrial facilities, and strip malls. Brian’s extensive experience, which stretches over two decades, has made him a seasoned expert in cost accounting, financial modeling, and financial management.
In 2002, Brian embarked on founding several property development and general contracting firms that have since made significant contributions to the urban fabric of Calgary. These firms have been instrumental in developing new real estate projects and providing contracting services to a diverse clientele, including private enterprises and the nonprofit sector.
His leadership was particularly pivotal at Vectus from 2011 to 2015, where, as President, he managed the firm’s operations, focusing on the redevelopment of existing properties and the construction of new commercial and residential structures.
Brian’s career in real estate was preceded by a significant tenure in the manufacturing industry, where he led an oilfield equipment company as CEO. His leadership was crucial in turning around the company’s fortunes, increasing its size by sevenfold over five years, eventually leading to its acquisition by a U.S. competitor in 2001.

CEO, Capitan Overlay Technologies
At Capitan Overlay Technologies, Brian served five years as CEO, where he was instrumental in the company's dramatic turnaround. The company, which specializes in exotic metal overlays for the oil and gas industry, was successfully sold to Triten under his leadership. Following the sale, Brian provided consultancy services to facilitate a smooth transition to the new management.
Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Flotek Industries
Between 1993 and 1996, Brian was the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Flotek Industries, an international company in the oil and gas sector. During his tenure, the company expanded its global operations and launched Petrovalve technology, enhancing production efficiency in the industry.
Controller, Cassola Management
Brian also held the position of Controller at Cassola Management, where he managed the finances for a conglomerate that included construction, property development, and manufacturing divisions.
State Finance Manager, Salmat Group
Brian’s earlier career roles include serving as State Finance Manager for Salmat Group in Australia, overseeing financial operations for the company’s divisions in New South Wales.
Before his role at Salmat, Brian worked as a Cost Accountant at Lilypak/Polarcup, focused on disposable packaging. He also managed Metalmesh Trading, a company specializing in swimming pool filtration equipment, for seven years.
From Canada to Australia and Back Home
Brian was born in Toronto, Canada, and moved to Sydney, Australia, when he was seven years old, where he grew up in the suburb of St. Ives. He returned to Canada in 1991, living initially in Vancouver, then Edmonton, and finally settling in Calgary in 1996.
Education
Brian graduated with a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University in Australia in 1985 and earned his CPA in 1990. He later acquired his Canadian CGA accounting designation in 1995.
Past Time
Brian is an outdoors enthusiast who engages in rally racing, skiing, cycling, sailing, and boating—activities that harness his adventurous spirit and love for nature. Living in Calgary, he enjoys easy access to the Canadian Rockies, which facilitates his winter and summer outdoor pursuits.
Brian also spends quality time at local dog parks with his dachshund, Benny, a rescue animal who is a frequent companion at home and work. His advocacy for pet-friendly living spaces reflects his commitment to animal welfare. Besides Benny, Brian also cares for two cats, underlining his love for animals.
Family is central to Brian’s life; he profoundly values the moments spent with his grandchildren.
